TAX MAP OFFICE

The staff has been working diligently for nearly two years to create an accessible and informative source for the public to use. The following list of information that will be accessible from our office:

1. Information from auditors office such as parcel identification numbers and legal descriptions with deed references.

2. Base land parcel maps (after completion)

3. Road maps

4. House numbering is now availible in our map room computers. you can now look up pacel information using the new physical address We are currently entering the corporations and villages now. In cooperation with the 911 coordinator and sheriff’s office.

The staff has also been putting the land maps over aerial photos. However the aerial photos were taken in 1996 so structures built after that year will not be seen on these maps. We are also working with the Health Department to incorporate vital information into the GIS program. Once completed the GIS program will offer the ability to track disease; vaccinations, and various other pertinent information.

There are currently two public terminals located in the Tax Map Department in the Washington County Courthouse. These terminals can be used for viewing and printing parcel maps. Any special map requests can be made in my office. Our staff will be available to instruct anyone interested in using this terminal. The public can now access all townships within Washington County. Including Marietta and Belpre Corporations. There are plans in the works for getting this information out on the Internet now. You will then be able to access this information directly from your home.

It is our hope that we can incorporate all county agencies into the GIS system. We are currently working with 911 and emergency services for the use of these maps in their daily operations and services. This would be beneficial to the public as well as our staff and county agencies. Please keep in mind that this is still a work in progress. If a user finds a mistake, please bring it to the attention of the staff so we may correct it. By working together we can make the use of the GIS system accessible and accurate.
