CHILDREN SERVICES MISSION STATEMENT "The mission of Washington County Children Services is to protect the abused, neglected, and dependent children of Washington County and to promote their well being. The agency shares the community's belief that each child has a right to be reared in a safe, permanent family and strengthening families is society's most effective way of preserving this right. Children Services values and depends on its partnership with community agencies and private citizens to protect our county's children. Working within its mission, the Agency respects the dignity, integrity, and uniqueness of each family and adheres to the philosophy that governmental intrusion is warranted only when children are thought to be at risk." Our Agency has 4 important areas of responsibility, each with its own mission. Listed below are brief descriptions of each. Click on each one for more information. Prevention services provide positive experiences for children and flexible services for families to promote children's school success, safety, and well being.Protection - Children Services has a 24 hour emergency service with a worker on-call 7 days/week to respond to emergency needs outside regular agency hours. The protective case worker on-call is responsible for assessing situations to determine action necessary to alleviate imminent risk situations. To make a report of abuse and/or neglect please call 740-373-3485. Placement is available to provide a safe, temporary home for children when efforts to provide in home services to the family has failed to adequately safeguard the children. Permanency in safe, stable, loving homes is the agency's goal for children who cannot return to their birth families. Washington County Children Services respects the confidentiality and privacy of persons served. In compliance with Ohio Revised Code & Ohio Administrative Code, each report and investigation of alleged child abuse and neglect is confidential and may only be shared when authorized by OAC 5101: 2-34-38.
