LEGAL DIVISION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Q. Where is the title office for automobile titles?
A. Washington County Title office is located at 146B Gross St., Marietta, Ohio 45750. Gross St is next to the Frontier Shopping Center and McDonalds off of Glendale Rd. It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

2. Q. How can I obtain a copy of my divorce decree?
A. If your divorce was granted in Washington County; you can call or write us and request it. You will need to provide us with the parties' first and last names, and the approximate year the case was filed. If you have the case number that would be even better. There is a $1.00 fee per page for a certified copy of the decree. Don't forget to include payment

3. Q. Where do I go to file my notary commission?
A. Come to our Legal office in the Washington County Courthouse on third floor. 205 Putnam St., Marietta, Ohio.

4. Q. How do I get a copy of my birth certificate?
A. If you were born in Marietta your birth certificate will be at the City of Marietta Health Dept., 304 Putnam Street, Marietta, Ohio.
If you were born out in the county the county Health dept should have your birth certificate. They are located on Davis Ave., Marietta, Ohio.

5. Q. Do you accept personal checks and or credit cards?
A. Yes we do accept local checks with proper identification. Master Card and Visa are also accepted both in our Legal and also the Title offices.

6. Q. Where do I apply for a passport?
A. You can get an application for a passport at the Clerk of Courts office at 205 Putnam St, Washington County Courthouse, and the Title office located at 146B Gross St., Marietta, Ohio 45750. You will need two passport I.D.'s, your birth certificate or old passport and your drivers license. The standard Clerk's Fee for a passport is $15.00 cash. Also, you will need to write the check payable to the U.S. Department of State depending on the option chosen from the list below:

Adults - $45.00
Expedite charge - $35.00
Age 16 and under - $25.00

7. Q. Where do I park when I need to visit the Clerk of Courts?
A. If you are visiting the Washington County Courthouse there is Street parking (most spots are 2 hr. free parking). The city has a Parking Partners Parking lot just off the corner of Putnam and Second Streets. There is a charge but it is minimal.
