PROBATE COURT RECORDS

The Court maintains the following records that are open to the public during business hours:

  • Estates, Guardianships, Trusts, Misc.
1789 to present
  • Marriage
1789 to present
  • Birth
1867 to 1908
  • Death
1867 to 1908

For birth and death records after 1908 contact the local health departments as follows:

For births/deaths occurring within the Marietta city limits, contact the Marietta Board of Health, 304 Putnam Street, Marietta, OH 45750, (740)373-0611. For births/deaths occurring outside the Marietta city limits, contact the Washington County Health Department, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, OH 45750, (740)374-2782.

Cost for certified birth/death records through Probate Court is $5.00.

Cost for certified marriage record is $5.00.

We do not accept personal checks. Payment should be made in cash or money order made payable to Washington County Probate Court.

Requests by mail should include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

While most Probate Court records are open to the public, Ohio law closes records pertaining to mental illness and adoptions.
