TAX MAP OFFICE
The Washington County Tax Map Office is your first stop for real estate descriptions and land title research. We are conveniently located with the County Auditor's and Recorder's Offices, on the second floor of the Washington County Court House, on Putnam and Second St., in downtown Marietta, Ohio. The knowledgeable and helpful staff is here to serve you. The Tax Map Office, an arm of the Engineer's Department, works closely with the County Auditor and Recorder's Departments in an effort to maintain up-to-date and accurate legal deed, land ownership and real estate descriptions. The Plat maps held at the Tax Map Office are maintained for tax purposes only and are not an official record. Plat maps are representative drawings showing the approximate locations of lots and boundaries, usually of subdivided land. These plat maps are utilized by the general public, attorneys, historians, and land title examiners.
