DOG WARDEN'S OFFICE

FAQ:

Q: Does the Dog Warden respond to problems involving barking dogs?
A: No. There is no law in our sections to cover this.

Q: Do we have a dog pound?
A: No. We contract with Humane Society to receive and supply a suitable place for dogs during a holding period.

Q: What is the holding period?
A: 3 (three) days by law - after that dogs are either adopted or destroyed (by the Humane Society).

Q: When do you need a dog license?
A: Any dog 3 (three) months old or older

Q: How much do tags cost?
A: $12.00 (twelve dollars)

Fines for dog at large and no tags:
First offense - $50.00 (fifty dollars) fine and $80.00 (eighty dollars) court cost.
Second offense - $75.00 (seventy-five dollars) fine and $80.00 (eighty dollars) court costs.
Third offense or more - Possible $250.00 (two hundred and fifty dollars) fine, court costs and possible jail time.
