CHILDREN SERVICES Mission Statement The Family Services Unit is committed to assisting families by providing the skills needed to improve family functioning and reducing the risk of harm to children in the home. We will achieve this goal by the provision of integrated services through Washington County Children Services in collaboration with other community service providers. Responsibilities Safety of children is paramount. The primary function of the Family Services Unit is that of service provision in an effort to assure the safety of all children with whom we are involved. Families enter the unit with an identified level of moderate/high or high risk. A case plan is developed to address all areas of need or concern. The case plan is completed, whenever possible, in conjunction with the family. The family's contribution in case planning is very important. Examples of services that can be included in the case plan are Parent Education, General Counseling, Transportation, Information/Referral, Environmental Management, Unmarried Parent and Case Management. The Family Services Unit services families that have children living in the home as well as those families who have had children removed from their home.
