The Washington County Board of Health is an appointed Board that governs the general health district. The Board consists of five members and an alternate. A physician, dentist, or veterinarian must be appointed to one of the Board positions. Each member is appointed to a five-year term, with a position becoming open each year. Four of the appointments are made by the District Advisory Council and one member and an alternate are appointed by the Licensing Council.
Board of Health meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 P.M. in the conference room of the Washington County Health Department. Meetings are open to the public and may be recorded. While there is an open forum for members of the public to address the Board, it is asked that the specific issues that require action be brought to the Health Commissioner or Administrator prior to the meeting so that items can be scheduled on the meeting agenda.
